

Steven is a 30-year industry veteran with extensive technical, managerial and executive experience. As founder and President of SURE Northern (Canada) - a Royal Dutch Shell subsidiary, Steven established the super-giant Grosmont resource base in Alberta during 2005-2008 as a viable energy source.
Steven is considered a leading expert in arctic production, heavy oil recovery and reservoir engineering. His breadth of experience also includes power generation and midstream and downstream activities, with focus on upgrading and other deep conversion projects. He has worked on various mega-projects throughout the world, including Prudhoe Bay, the Venezuelan Orinoco Belt, the Alberta Oil Sands, the North Sea and Southeast Asia.
Steven’s expertise extends beyond the technical knowledge of energy sector - he is widely respected for his collaborative approach to stakeholder management around the globe, including his work with the Canadian First Nations and Venezuelan municipalities.
Steven’s prior experience includes both upstream and downstream technology, business development and asset management at ARCO, Royal Dutch Shell, Muse Stancil and Pioneer Natural Resources. Steven has been awarded eight patents for his innovations in unconventional oil and upstream oil and gas, various professional papers and is a co-author of the book, “Fractals in Petroleum Geology and Earth Processes”.
Steven is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
Steven received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business.
